{"id":1447,"date":"2015-03-23T14:36:54","date_gmt":"2015-03-23T14:36:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.villalanducci.it\/?p=1447"},"modified":"2019-12-03T19:39:04","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T18:39:04","slug":"castello-di-cacchiano-vin-santo-indimenticabile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.villalanducci.it\/en\/blog\/castello-di-cacchiano-vin-santo-indimenticabile\/","title":{"rendered":"Castello di Cacchiano: unforgettable Vin Santo&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 1974 the Ricasoli family, after having produced wines for centuries, founded the present estate with the brand \u201cCastello di Cacchiano\u201d.<!--more--> It was in that year that the noblewoman Elisabetta Balbi Valier, widow of the Baron Alberto Ricasoli-Firidolfi who was the father of the current owner Giovanni Ricasoli-Firidolfi, inherited the whole estate.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Some information about the company:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nProduction area: Monti in Chianti<br \/>\nTotal extension of the vineyards: 31 hectares<br \/>\nAltitude: 380-420 meters<br \/>\nExposure: mainly south<br \/>\nSoil composition: medium soils of limestone matrix and with a good structure<br \/>\nVines per hectare: 3.300 on older plants, 5.000 \u2013 5.208 \u2013 5.882 and 9.260 on the most recent plants<br \/>\nTraining system: spurred cordon<br \/>\nYear of planting: 1970-1973 (10 hectares), 1989 (5 hectares), 1997 (2,5 hectares) e 1999 (7,5 hectares), 2006 (3 hectares), 2007 (3 hectares)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A prestigious owner of the estate in the 19th century was the Baron Bettino Ricasoli (Florence, 9th March 1809 \u2013 <strong>Castello di Brolio<\/strong>, 23rd October 1880), who was called<strong> \u201cBarone di Ferro\u201d<\/strong> (Iron Baron) and was Prime Minister of Italy in the first years of the Italian unification. Bettino Ricasoli, ancestor of the present owner, had a crucial role in the innovation of the Tuscan winegrowing and winemaking and among other things he sets the basis of today&#8217;s Chianti blending (\u201cChianti Classico\u201d).
