A stay of several nights in Villa Landucci or in our Villa La Monta allow our guest, as specified in other pages, to visit also the surrounding area and countryside. What several people do not get is that you do not need to visit Chianti or other areas to enjoy a refreshing dinner. We always suggest our arriving or departing guest to consider stopping in one of these restaurant on the way to our place and… you can easily can find us there too.
In a formally and absolutely random order, here the first restaurant we think about when in look for a cooling summer dinner or lunch.
Battibecco
On the border of the Impruneta village – this means for people approaching Florence from the Chianti countriside – between old pinewood there is the historical restaurant “Il Battibecco”. This is the usual meeting point for the village on the sunday lunch, we ove to go there for dinner in the early time during summer (and also in winter with the huge fireplace always on) in order to have an easy and unformal chat with the staff, the owner Brando and the impeccalbe Maitre d’O. Attentive service but not intruding, always looking for local wine producer but always have a big choiche on their wine list. Recipe follows season availability with one fix up recipe: Peposo alla Fornacina, the iconic recipe of the village. A beef stew slowly cooked with lots of pepper, one very poor dish rich in flavour and energy. The excellence in the preparation on choose of the raw material is the perfect witness on hoy a recipe can be good not even considering its poor and humble origin.
Il Paiolo
Coming on the A1 Highway from northern Italy you often find huge traffic between Barberino and Calenzano.If its lunch or dinner time, if there is a big queue or if you are just addicted to good food, get out at Barberino Exit and enjoy Paiolo!! In the first room there is a huge fireplace and oven with 4 table “for the friends” and the following rooms are all filled up with Formula1Memorabilia of the 70’s. The two sisters running the place today – I’m proud to have seen them growing up since they were kids – bring ahead the family business in a very good way. Mum should be proud of their work as i am to suggest them and their “antipastino misto caldo”. (Portion in the picture is for 1 person)
Osteria de’ Giusti
We solve the issue for people arriving from north, but what for people arriving from the south? Different direction, different A1Exit, different Restaurant. Just out or Incisa-Reggello barrier you will find Osteria dei Giusti. You will not get out starving!! Big portion, very good food, old style recipe. When picking a bistecca there you have also a meat carte with 8/9 different kind of different breed! Our favourite recipes are Crouton with Lard and Taleggio Cheese, any paste with gaming meat and obviousely the Bistecca. Black Angus if available!!
Trattoria da Bule
Are you coming from Siena or Grosseto? While on the fastway to Firenze or on the old Cassia Road (SR2) there is a small hidden place for you just in the village of Bargin “Da Bule”: It is really hidden in the back of the old Village grocery. Daniele and Sara will amaze you with all their recipe with deep tuscan roots and a great quality on a fair price. Always book your table ahead, specially in summer or the weekend. Any doubt on the dessert? We don’t!! Always Zuccotto!!!
Sanesi
What about if you come from Pisa or Livorno? There are so many optional road and many restaurant that you got crazy to get them all. So we consider the fastway FiPiLi. Get out at Lastra a Signa (be aware of the speedtrap just 1-2km before it). Follow for the city center, park your car in the big parking in the back of the newstand and than in about a 100 meter toward the older part of the village you will find the green tent of Sanesi. What do we have to say? Out of touristic routes, good, good prices, local people, great TBone Fiorentina Style and a real tuscan atmosphere…
